Introducing the man with no name! Printed in stunning stone lithography based on the design of the teaser US One Sheet, this Australian Daybill poster was issued in 1967 to advertise the first Australian release of Sergio Leone's 1964 Spaghetti Western A Fistful of Dollars. First released in Italy as Per un pugno di dollari the landmark low-budget film rejuvenated the Western genre, created the popular Spaghetti Western sub-genre, and set its mysterious anti-hero gunslinger Clint Eastwood on the road to legendary superstardom. Based on Akira Kurosawa's Yojimbo, Eastwood starred in his first leading role as a nameless world-weary gunman who agrees to work for warring gangs, ultimately pitting the two factions against each other. The "Man with No Name" returned in For a Few Dollars More and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, the three films forming Leone’s "Dollar Trilogy." Recognising its groundbreaking style and cinematography, Quentin Tarantino has described A Fistful of Dollars as the greatest achievement in the history of Cinema. Condition Excellent (A) Conservation backed on linen. Backing has smoothed and diminished two light machine folds so that they are virtually invisible. Image and colours excellent.
