Oil on canvas. Signed at lower right. On the back present label of 'Ponte Rosso' Gallery in Milan, 'La Roggia' Gallery in Palazzolo (Bs) and cartouche of participation in Clusone at the 1988 exhibition '50 years of painting by Ezio Pastorio'. On the frame present further title Pianura padana, which was one of the subjects most represented by Pastorio. Proposed here is a glimpse of the plain, with farmhouses, sparse trees and pools of water, all overlooked by the snow-capped Alpine peaks in the background, which blend chromatically with the sky, creating a continuum between the two parts into which the landscape is divided horizontally.Ezio Pastorio, originally from Cremona but after his studies transplanted to Valseriana, is considered 'a great master of the Italian 20th century, who was able to renew the artistic language of landscape while maintaining a strong link with 19th-century painting.' His output is post-impressionist, especially in his extensive landscape production depicting the Po and Bergamo plains, the Venetian lagoon, and some Parisian views, which he admired during some trips. In his works Pastorio creates evocative atmospheres using endless ranges of colors, which harmonize and sometimes even contrast, but always presented as a transparency that cancels the static nature of the representation and with a delicacy that expresses his devout religiosity towards nature and creation. The work, from a private collector, is presented in a frame.
