BIOGRAPHY
Walter Valentini (Pergola, 22 October 1928) is an Italian painter, sculptor and engraver, recognized internationally in the field of graphics and engraving. He is a teacher of techniques such as etching, aquatints, tips, multi -color lithography, football.
As an artist he affirmed himself in the 1980s with a series of abstract works on table and on paper, all characterized by a precise sense of geometry, proportions and rhythm.
Valentini's geometric imagination is affected by the influences of the Russian avant -garde of the twentieth century (constructivism) and, marginally, of the architectures painted by De Chirico in the metaphysical period, but is mainly based on the sense of harmony and proportion investigated by the Italian artists of the fifteenth century: De Pictura, De Re Aeditory, De Statue of Leon Battista Alberti, De Prospectiva Pingendi of Piero della Francesca and De Divina proportion of Luca Pacioli are treated on the perspective and on the golden rule that will orient the whole search for Valentini on space, the shapes and the shapes their balance.
Astronomy and cosmography will also be important sources of inspiration for Valentini. His approach to architecture and celestial mechanics is mathematical and rigorous, but not without his poetry. Shy and far from schools, currents and artistic groups, he declares his admiration for the works of Paul Klee, Fausto Melotti and Osvaldo Licini; He will cultivate the friendship of artists such as Luigi Veronesi, Emilio Scanavino and Hans Richter.
He teaches art of engraving at the "New Academy of Fine Arts" in Milan, of which he was also director, from 1983 to 1985.
