Piranesi, ”Views of Rome drawn and etched by Giambattista Piranesi, Venetian Architect” (1753) this wonderful Artist’s Proof with wide margins, representing the Port of Ripa Grande at the middle of XVIII century. With an interesting and detailed capture (on plate) pointing out the Ruins of antique monouments and buildings. Background: In 1740 Giovanni Battista Piranesi arrived in Rome for the first time and he was astonished by the Eternal City’s beauty. He served an apprenticeship before with the Valeriani’s workshop, and after with Giuseppe Vasi’s one. The Sicilian engraver and vedutist teached him the etching technique, conveying his graphic art’s passion to the venetian old master. Ref: A. Piranesi, "Vues de Rome dessinées et gravées par Giambattista Piranesi, Architecte Vénitien" (1753) cette merveilleuse épreuve d'artiste avec de grandes marges, représentant le Port de Ripa Grande au milieu du XVIII siècle. Avec une capture intéressante et détaillée (sur la plaque) montrant les ruines des monouments et bâtiments antiques. Historique : En 1740 Giovanni Battista Piranesi arrive à Rome pour la première fois et il est étonné par la beauté de la Ville Eternelle. Il a fait son apprentissage d'abord dans l'atelier de Valeriani, puis dans celui de Giuseppe Vasi.
