Ludovico Cavaleri (Milan, 1867– Cuvio, Italy, 1942) The Italian painter was a self-taught member of the school of Lombard Naturalism but he abandoned his medical studies in 1888 to devote himself exclusively to art. Ludovico Cavaleri was specialized in seascapes under the influence of Pompeo Mariani and Giorgio Belloni, but he later adopted the anti-naturalistic approach characteristic of the turn of the century, perhaps as a result of his friendship with the Symbolist poet Gian Pietro Lucini. He also worked as an illustrator and a successful commercial artist realizing advertising posters. This artwork is shipped from Italy. Under existing legislation, any artwork in Italy created over 70 years ago by an artist who has died requires a licence for export regardless of the work’s market price. The shipping may require additional handling days to require the licence according to the final destination of the artwork.
