Knits & Knots

Located on Carroll Street in Brooklyn, New York, one block southeast of the Gowanus Canal, the Textile Arts Center is a haven for anyone interested in knitting, weaving, knotting, textile dying, and . . . well, all things textile-related! This past Wednesday I headed out to the Brooklyn neighborhood to visit Jordana Martin, current Interim President for the center and founder of Oak Knit Studio, and working textile artist and designer.

The center opened in Brooklyn in 2009 and currently plays host to a number of classes and weekend workshops, an artist-in-residency program, as well as providing an open studio space for their students and members. It’s the perfect environment for anyone looking to pick up a new craft or for more of a deep-dive type of learning experience.
