Boat Mirrors

You might remember our feature story form a while back, Inside The Frame, when we highlighted Jean-Baptiste Fastrez's Mask Mirrors collection. Well, Fastrez’s has a new collection. The Boat Mirrors collection has been made specially for his Galerie des Glaces solo exhibition at the Galeries Lafayettes in Toulon.

In designing these pieces, Fastrez utilized a PVC material—usually used for covering trucks or as nautical equipment—to dress the mirrors, paying tribute to the navy tradition of Toulon. And these mirrors are big, standing between one and three meters tall, designed to fit with the grand entrance stairs of the department store.

The prototypes were made in the Villa Noailles, in Hyères, in collaboration with Louise de Saint Angel.

The exhibition will be on display in the Galeries Lafayettes of Toulon for one year.
