Indianapolis Museum of Art

About this Museum

Founded in 1883, the Indianapolis Museum of Art (IMA) hosts a collection of over 54,000 African, American, European and Asian works, spanning ancient and contemporary art. Its departments include Decorative Arts, Textile and Fashion Arts, as well as a growing collection of Design Arts.

The IMA is situated on a 152-acre campus that encompasses woodlands, wetlands, meadows and a lake. Within the park are site-specific works by Alfredo Jaar, Atelier van Lieshout, Andrea Zittel, Jeppe Hein and more - including Robert Indiana’s original LOVE sculpture.

The IMA launched the website ArtBabble in 2009, a platform for art- and design-related video content, such as interviews, reviews and discussions.
